Summer Art Camp: THE COMICS: From Peanuts to Transformers
Spend a week with comic book artist/writer Tim Seeley. He’s illustrated Devil’s Due G.I. Joe Vs. The Transformers, Marvel Comics’ New Exiles and Weapon X: First Class, and currently works on DC Comics’ Wildstorm:WildC.A.T.S. Learn the history of comics and create your own comic book including scripting and plot; preliminary art and penciling; and inking, lettering, and coloring processes.

Mayas and Aztecs: How Different Can Two Neighboring Civilizations Be?

Ron Lippi, archaeologist and UWMC professor of anthropology, introduces the Maya and Aztec civilizations of Mexico and Central America – how these complex cultures emerged, how they were organized and functioned, why they collapsed, and how they influence contemporary culture.

Thanks to a planning grant from the Helen Bader Foundation, Milwaukee, Woodson Art Museum educators Jayna Hintz and Erin Narloch have developed SPARK!, a free monthly program for individuals with memory loss and their caregivers. At each session, artworks on view will be the sparks that kindle conversation among participants. Creative activity follows gallery discussion.
