Artist in Residence: Camry Ivory
Camry Ivory, visual musician
July 20 – August 1, 2026
Camry Ivory is a Kansas City-based visual musician and self-taught artist who works at the intersection of art, music, and technology. Her work is rooted in the belief that human creativity is irreplaceable, and that technology can be used to help us explore, express, and expand our innate creative gifts. She is the inventor of Coloratura, an interactive instrument that combines electronic music and analog art. Using custom paint brushes, the interface allows users to create sounds as they paint on a conductive canvas. Each brushstroke produces a different musical note, letting users paint with sound and explore the connection between art and music.
Camry was a Rita Blitt Interdisciplinary Artist Fellow at the Mulvane Museum at Washburn University, and has performed at the Kemper Museum, Charlotte Street Foundation, Nelson-Atkins Museum, and Hallmark Creative Leadership Symposium. She’s also hosted interactive workshops with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Kansas School for the Blind, Georgia Tech University, and the University of Greenwich in London.
