Support the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum with our volunteer opportunities in Wausau. Our volunteers play a vital role in enhancing the museum-going experience through various responsibilities—from guiding tours to welcoming visitors, there is a purpose for everyone!
As a docent, you’ll help bring the galleries to life for visitors. You will lead engaging tours for students, adults, and children while sharing the stories behind the art. Training includes a 6-week course that consists of hands-on learning, shadowing, and in-depth sessions with curatorial and education staff for every exhibition.
Greeters serve as the first friendly face our visitors will see. You’ll warmly welcome guests to the museum and offer information about current exhibitions. As a new greeter, you will partake in an initial one-on-one training session and enjoy educator-led tours for each new exhibition.
SPARK! Friends assist Museum educators in creative engagement programs for individuals with early to mid-stage memory loss and their care partners. You will assist our participants with classroom art activities or guide them through our galleries in a friendly and compassionate manner. Training includes shadowing experiences and individual sessions with an experienced staff member.
Gardeners keep our gardens and grounds beautiful for every season. You will bring life to our gardens with native plantings throughout spring, summer, and fall—always keeping our grounds plentiful.
