Sophia Myshchyshyn, 2026 Summer Intern
Hello! My name is Sophia and I am delighted to share a little bit about myself as a summer intern at the Woodson Art Museum. I just finished my undergraduate journey at UW-Madison, where I studied English along with Folklore and European Studies. After taking a gap year, I will be returning to school to pursue my Master’s in library science with the end goal of working in archives.
Although I am from the Minocqua area, I have been connected to Wausau and the Museum my entire life. Ever since childhood, my parents have taken me to the Woodson Art Museum—especially to Birds in Art—which cultivated my love of art and birds. Some of my hobbies include reading, running long distances, and skiing (both on water and snow).

My favorite part about interning at the Museum is the atmosphere. Not only am I surrounded by amazing art, but also wonderful people. At least once a week either Amalia or Matt take us to view a work of art and have us analyze what we see. We are then guided to a better understanding of the artwork. This activity creates a connection with art, but more importantly with the people who work at the Museum and to the process of how one begins to bring an understanding of art to the public. I really appreciate my time at the Museum, as it is a unique place in North Central Wisconsin.
