Individuals with low vision and blindness will experience painting through touch and sound, guided by artist in residence Camry Ivory. Camry will lead participants through the process of making art and music simultaneously with Coloratura, her musical paintbrush instrument.
Coloratura is an interactive instrument that combines electronic music and analog art. Using custom paint brushes, the interface allows users to create sounds as they paint on a conductive canvas. Each brushstroke produces a different musical note, letting users paint with sound. Participants can experiment with Coloratura to explore the connection between art and music and discover how creative expression translates into a unique audio-visual experience.
