Surprising Sculpture Installation on View at the Woodson Art Museum

This summer’s immersive installation of colorful, assembled-object sculptures by Miami-based artist Federico Uribe opened June 2 at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum. For his site-specific installation, The World According to Federico Uribe, on view at the Museum through August 26, Uribe created a large-scale, walk-in environment – thought-provoking, yet brimming with whimsy and joy.

Birds in Art 2018 Taking Flight at the Woodson Art Museum

New avian-themed artworks by more than 100 worldwide artists comprise the 43rd annual, internationally renowned 2018 “Birds in Art” exhibition, on view September 8 through November 25 at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum. The 2018 exhibition presents artworks by 114 artists in total: 2018 Master Artist Cindy House, 21 who were named Master Artists during previous “Birds in Art” exhibitions, and 92 artists whose work was selected by three jurors who reviewed 904 entries submitted by 575 artists. Visit on Saturday morning, Sept. 8, 9am-Noon, to meet more than 70 “Birds in Art” artists who flock to the Museum from throughout the world for the exhibition’s debut. Seize morning opportunities to interact in the galleries and sculpture garden with artists – from first-year participants to Master Artists. Creative Collaborations Benefit All Ages

The World According to Federico Uribe is a colorful, creative exhibition into which more than 12,000 Woodson Art Museum visitors, thus far, have happily escaped to this summer. Two summer programs have made me especially aware of the infectious and inspiring quality of Uribe’s artwork – Summer Art Sessions and a visit with first-year students from the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Central Wisconsin campus.
