Family Fest, Aug. 18-20, Features Garden-Themed Activities

Wausau, Wisconsin: The Woodson Art Museum’s fifth-annual Family Fest features garden-themed art making, Tuesday through Thursday, August 18 – 20, when all ages drop by the sculpture garden to try different art activities each day, admission free.

Complementing two summer exhibitions, The Garden at Night: A Photographic Journey and Bartram’s Boxes Remix, garden-themed activities are the focus of this year’s Family Fest, which encourages families to practice healthy habits together: art making and museum visiting, as well as being outdoors, exercising, and eating well. All ages drop by the sculpture garden during regular Museum hours, Tuesday through Thursday, August 18 – 20, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., to explore different art activities:

• Tuesday, August 18: Botanical prints
• Wednesday, August 19: Seed mosaics
• Thursday, August 20: Tissue-paper flowers

Family Fest kicks off with an Extra-Terrific Toddler Tuesday, August 18, 10:30 a.m.-Noon, when little ones, 18 months-4 years, siblings and accompanying adults sample art making and family yoga led by a Five Koshas Yoga and Wellness instructor. Support for Woodson Art Museum summer programming comes from Ministry Health Care and Five Koshas Yoga and Wellness.

Family Fest is part of a national initiative, Let’s Move! Museums & Gardens, launched by First Lady Michelle Obama and the Institute of Museum and Library Services to promote healthy food choices and physical activity through interactive programs. The Woodson Art Museum joins more than 680 participating institutions nationwide.
